Angler’s Alibi on the Alagnak River had one of the top 3 king seasons since opening its doors in 94. Right from the first day of the season, the average king per boat tally was in double digits and the guides never looked back. The king salmon fishing only continued to get better throughout the month of July until finally slowing down the last week of July when we still were able to land 13 king salmon on the last day of the season with 2 rods targeting kings only after lunch!
We anticipate another strong run as we did catch a lot of jack kings in the 17#range, indicating that there would be a return from this age class averaging 25-35#’s this season. We can only speculate, but with the indicators from last season, the 2012 king salmon season should be another one for the ages! Angler’s Alibi Alaska, one of the best Alaska fly fishing lodges in its class, is happy to say that our camp is full again for the coming season. We are fortunate to have a 90% return rate from 2011 and an overall average of 80% return rate of guests since we opened our doors. We look forward to meeting some fresh new faces as well as seeing our old friends for another great year on the Alagnak River!
