When is the best time to come to Angler’s Alibi Alaska
“When is the best time to come to Angler’s Alibi” is a great question we receive quite often. This really depends on what you or your group of anglers is looking for. The salmon enter the Alagnak almost to the hour every year as if set by a computer. This allows Angler'’s Alibi to know exactly when each species will be available to target. We at Angler’s Alibi, a fly fishing lodge on the Alagnak River in the Bristol Bay area, cater to only 10 guests a week.
This small group size lets us customize our daily fishing program around the individual guests wants and desires. For example, the first week of the season is a king and sockeye week. You can expect great king salmon fishing, and also unbelievable sockeye salmon fishing. If a guest wishes to fish for kings all day, then that is what they will do.
On the other hand, if a guest wants to fish for chum salmon, then we would have them come up any time from the third week of July through the end of our season. We can match exactly what species you want to target on the Alagnak River, as long as we have room!
Our goal at Angler’s Alibi is to exceed any expectation the guests may have. This philosophy has kept Angler’s Alibi one of the best values in an Alaska fly fishing lodge.
What Kind of Fly Fishing Gear Do I Need to Bring?
Angler’s Alibi on the Alagnak River provides all fly fishing gear to their guests. We supply 9 wt. fly rods for silver, chum, and pink salmon fishing and also 10 and 11 wt. fly rods for chasing the big king salmon. We also provide all flies with a huge selection of proven fly patterns all guides carry. We do not carry waders and wading jackets for the guests, but we do have some spare gear shall a guest have a mishap with the airlines.
We also carry spey rods for targeting King salmon as well as the many silver, chum, and pink salmon of the Alagnak. All our gear is top shelf and ready for you when you arrive. If you want to bring your own gear, that is no problem and we would be glad to assist you with your list of recommended gear.
