The 2022 season is already off to a fantastic start. We have an excellent staff returning for another season. Additionally, we have a few new additions to the team. The first new edition is Chef John Lazard. Chef John is from Tucson, Arizona and has been cooking his entire life. Chef John’s experience comes from large catering events to fine dining. The Angler’s Alibi team has been nothing but impressed by Chef John’s culinary talents. The guest’s John has served thus far have nothing but raved about his food, specifically his desserts. It is astonishing what desserts Chef John can produce out here in the Alaskan bush. Lastly, we have an amazing Chef’s assistant who joined the team. Sandra Douglas is our new Chef’s assistant, and you can’t wait to try her cookies we provide in the lunch coolers. They are beyond good and her rotation of different baked goods for our lunch coolers keeps everyone on their toes for what is coming next. Sandra has a phenomenal background in managing kitchens and working in every position from server to Chef. Sandra and John are both wonderful new additions to the team and we are so incredibly lucky to have them join the team this season. Additionally, you may notice a few new buildings here at Angler’s Alibi. We have been busy upgrading our laundry room, and kitchen. The retuning clients will surely be impressed with our new kitchen remodel. Finally, the wildlife has been nothing but extraordinary. We have seen moose, bears, and tons of bald eagles. It is crucial to take a moment to look up and remind yourself you are fishing in Alaska. Each season I forget how big and magnificent the bald eagles are here in Alaska. Fishing guide John Landry and Russel Owen have been busy capturing beautiful images of the moose and bears on the river. We have had 2 weeks of salmon fishing. The sockeye run has been incredible. Bristol Bay is projected to break last year’s record-breaking sockeye return. It is hard to imagine how many sockeyes migrate through our river each year. Lastly, the King fishing. The boats that are King fishing are catching Jack King’s and a few adults. Here at Angler’s Alibi, we are a CATCH and RELEASE only King fishery. We as a lodge are taking every step possible to preserve our rivers King run. We are hopeful to one day see our King run return to what it was before. Finally, as we begin to enter Week 3 of our salmon season, we look forward to seeing Chum Salmon return to our fabled sand bars where we be wading and swinging flies in search of these knuckle breaking fish. The dinner table is set, and the entire Angler’s Alibi team is excited to meet all the guest coming up to visit this year. We can’t wait to share a river with you that we all love and cherish. The fish and the wildlife are waiting for you. About the Author
