​I have had the opportunity to trout fish in New Zealand, brookie fish on the Minippi in Labrador, steelhead in Washington, and bone fish in Belize.  But since 1996, I have fished at Angler’s Alibi, most of these years for 2 weeks at a time.

As my son says, we aren’t going fishing, we’re going catching.  The fishing is superb, the food is excellent, the facilities are perfect, and the staff’s purpose is to make your time there incomparable.  Throw in some grizzly bears, moose, eagles, osprey and other assorted wildlife, and you have an Alaskan adventure.

Over the years our group has developed a real camaraderie with the staff.  John Perry and everyone connected with Angler’s Alibi will do whatever they can to create a week of outstanding experiences.  I camped on the Moraine, the headwaters of the Alagnak, and made many flights to surrounding rivers, including the Kvichak.

If you want a true Alaskan experience, not too soft, not too rough, and want to catch a lot of fish I would recommend Angler’s Alibi.

About the Author

​John Perry grew up in Michigan on an island called Grosse Ile, in the mouth of the Detroit River and Lake Erie. It was here, surrounded by great fishing and waterfowl hunting that John developed a passion for the outdoors. John moved to Colorado to chase trout in the summers and ski patrol in the winters. John had the privilege to start guiding for Angler’s Alibi with his fly fishing mentor TR Rafferty the second year it was in business. He left a head guide job in Colorado to pursue bigger and better fish.
