Alagnak River Fly Fishing with Angler’s Alibi

11/14/2012

The Alagnak River located in the famous Bristol Bay watershed, and is one of the best rivers in all of Alaska, if not the best all around river for fly fishing in the world. Angler’s Alibi is located right in the center of the tidewater, which means we can only fish about 5 miles downstream from our lodge without being in the brackish waters of Bristol Bay.
We only need to go up river about 5 miles to stay in the tidewater, where the river will no longer be affected by the tides. This location provides our guest with amazing chrome bright salmon fishing daily on the tides, with a very short boat ride of 5 to 10 minutes max! We are able to intercept the salmon on their journey up the Alagnak River literally the day they arrive from Bristol Bay on the tide. Wading is easy on the shallow firm bottomed sand bars that line the Alagnak River on every bend, and catching all 5 species of Pacific salmon is easy as well with thousands of salmon going up river every day from the beginning of July til mid August.

It is no secret that space at Angler’s Alibi is very limited.  We have a return rate of near 80%, and with only 10 guests a week, space is a premium. So far for the 2013 season, we only have a few spots left for the season. I hope that this will help out with our location, and the prime situation our guests are in while staying with Angler’s Alibi Alaska on the famed Alagnak River.

About the Author

John Perry with a Rainbow Trout
John Perry grew up in Michigan on an island called Grosse Ile, in the mouth of the Detroit River and Lake Erie. It was here, surrounded by great fishing and waterfowl hunting that John developed a passion for the outdoors. John moved to Colorado to chase trout in the summers and ski patrol in the winters. John had the privilege to start guiding for Angler’s Alibi with his fly fishing mentor TR Rafferty the second year it was in business. He left a head guide job in Colorado to pursue bigger and better fish.
