Alaska Fly Fishing

​This is the season of mass preparation for Angler’s Alibi, one of the best values in the Alaska fishing lodge industry.  It is spring, and fly orders are being finalized, food orders set, employee airfare scheduled, and my favorite part is shopping for the new gear and amenities that Angler’s Alibi will offer to our guests this season.  Fly fishing in Alaska for salmon and trout is just about one of the best angling adventures one could do in the world, but it is also a very gear specific undertaking.

​It is nice to know that all guests at Angler’s Alibi are fully taken care of in every way.  There is no need to travel with a single fly, rod, or reel as we provide all this with no extra charge.  Not only do we provide it, but we provide top shelf equipment for our guests as we would never want an equipment failure during battle with an Alaska salmon or trophy rainbow trout.

New to the line-up this season will be a commercial grade vacuum packaging machine that will ensure all guests that are bringing salmon home are doing so with the best possible packaging job imaginable.

We will be doing a weekly fishing report as well on the site this summer as a way of keeping in touch with past guests that are not fortunate enough to make it up this summer.

About the Author

​John Perry grew up in Michigan on an island called Grosse Ile, in the mouth of the Detroit River and Lake Erie. It was here, surrounded by great fishing and waterfowl hunting that John developed a passion for the outdoors. John moved to Colorado to chase trout in the summers and ski patrol in the winters. John had the privilege to start guiding for Angler’s Alibi with his fly fishing mentor TR Rafferty the second year it was in business. He left a head guide job in Colorado to pursue bigger and better fish.
