When is the best time to come to Angler’s Alibi?

3/23/2012

“When is the best time to come to Angler’s Alibi?” is a great question that we obviously are asked quite often. The answer really depends on what you or your group of anglers is looking for. The salmon enter the Alagnak River almost to the hour every year as if set by a computer. This allows the fishing guides of Angler’s Alibi to know exactly when each species will be available to target.

At Angler’s Alibi we accept only 10 guests a week – keeping our guest size relatively low lets us customize our daily fishing program around the individual guests wants and desires. For example, the first week of the season is a king and sockeye salmon week. You can expect great king salmon fishing, and also unbelievable sockeye salmon fishing. However, if a guest wishes to fish for king salmon all day until they get a trophy, then that is what they will have the chance to do.  On the other hand, if a guest wants to fish for chum salmon, then we would have them come up any time from the third week of July  through the end of our season.

We can match exactly what species you want to target on the Alagnak River…as long as we have room!

Our goal at Angler’s Alibi is to exceed any expectation the guests may have. This philosophy has kept Angler’s Alibi one of the best values in an Alaska fly fishing lodge.  So, contact us to discuss what you want in an Alaskan fishing trip – we look forward to hearing from you!

John Perry with a Rainbow Trout
John Perry grew up in Michigan on an island called Grosse Ile, in the mouth of the Detroit River and Lake Erie. It was here, surrounded by great fishing and waterfowl hunting that John developed a passion for the outdoors. John moved to Colorado to chase trout in the summers and ski patrol in the winters. John had the privilege to start guiding for Angler’s Alibi with his fly fishing mentor TR Rafferty the second year it was in business. He left a head guide job in Colorado to pursue bigger and better fish.
